The Chronicle - July Edition

1: Welcome

Welcome to the inaugural edition of The Chronicle, the official publication of ASCEND Professional Systems.

What began as an idea to document progress has evolved into something much greater. A place to preserve knowledge, celebrate achievements, share meaningful stories, and build a lasting archive for educators, creators, and professionals alike. The Chronicle was created with a simple purpose: to inspire continuous growth through transparency, collaboration, and the sharing of real experiences.

Within these pages, you’ll discover professional case studies, educational research, community updates, creator spotlights, personal reflections, and even recommendations for places that make living and working in Thailand memorable. Every article represents another step in building a community that values learning, leadership, creativity, and professional excellence.

This first edition also marks the beginning of several exciting initiatives, including the launch of ASCEND Forge, the publication of our first implementation case study, and the introduction of new recurring sections that will continue to grow with each monthly release.

Whether you are an educator, school leader, creator, student, or simply someone passionate about lifelong learning, I hope you find something within these pages that informs, encourages, or inspires you.

Thank you for joining us at the very beginning of this journey.

Monthly Introduction

July 2026 - A New Beginning

Every meaningful journey begins with a single step, and for ASCEND, July represents exactly that.

This month marks the official launch of The Chronicle, a publication dedicated to documenting the growth of the ASCEND ecosystem and the people who help shape it. Throughout this issue, you’ll find our first implementation case study introducing the ASCEND Framework, the opening of the Creator’s Forge through Forge Archive 000 & 001, reflections from members of our community, recognition of educational milestones such as Denla’s 47th Anniversary/Denla Learning Commons Grand Opening, and the first entry in our new Explorer’s Journal.

While this inaugural edition lays the foundation, it is only the beginning. Future issues will continue to expand with new research, interviews, implementation studies, educational resources, creative showcases, travel recommendations, and community contributions from educators and professionals around the world.

The Chronicle is more than a monthly publication. It is a living record of ideas, innovation, leadership, and the shared pursuit of excellence.

Thank you for being part of the first chapter. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the months ahead.

A New Chapter in Learning: The Grand Opening of the Denla Learning Commons

Innovation in education begins with creating environments where curiosity can flourish.

This month, Denla Phetkasem celebrated the official opening of the Denla Learning Commons, a significant milestone that reflects the school’s continued investment in the future of early childhood education.

Designed as a modern Learning Ecosystem, the Learning Commons spans approximately 1,000 square metres and represents an investment of more than 25 million THB. Rather than functioning as a traditional classroom, the space has been thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, creativity, collaboration, and personalized learning experiences for children from 6 months to 6 years of age. The Learning Commons brings together multiple learning environments where children are encouraged to discover their interests through hands-on experiences. The initiative reflects Denla’s educational philosophy that meaningful learning happens when children are given opportunities to ask questions, experiment, create, and develop at their own pace within a supportive environment. I had the privilege of attending the grand opening as a guest. Experiencing the event firsthand offered a unique opportunity to see not only the impressive facilities but also the passion shared by the leadership, educators, and staff who brought this vision to life. The atmosphere throughout the opening reflected a shared commitment to creating exceptional learning experiences for every child.

The Learning Commons stands as more than a new building. It represents Denla’s ongoing commitment to evolving with the changing landscape of education while remaining focused on helping every learner reach their fullest potential.

Celebrating 47 Years of Educational Excellence

Honoring the Legacy of the Denla Group

For nearly five decades, the Denla Group has remained committed to providing high-quality education, nurturing young learners, and fostering a culture of excellence. In 2026, the organization proudly celebrates 47 years of educational leadership. A milestone that reflects its continued dedication to students, families, educators, and innovation within Thai education.

Founded in 1979 with the opening of Denla Kindergarten on Phetkasem Road, the school began with a simple yet powerful vision: to create an exceptional learning environment where children could grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Since then, the Denla Group has grown into one of Thailand’s leading educational organizations, expanding its family of schools while maintaining its commitment to excellence and student development. (bangkokbiznews)

This year’s anniversary celebration was more than a reflection on the past. It was a celebration of the people who continue to shape the Denla community every day. Teachers, staff, administrators, students, and families came together to recognize nearly five decades of educational achievement while looking toward an exciting future.

As someone who primarily works at Denla Phetkasem and also supports Denla Rama 5, it was inspiring to witness the pride shared throughout the community. Events such as these serve as a reminder that a school’s greatest strength lies not only in its history, but in the people who dedicate themselves to helping every student succeed.

Looking ahead, the Denla Group continues to expand its educational vision through new initiatives and learning opportunities that prepare students for an ever-changing world. Whether through innovative learning spaces like the new Learning Commons or broader strategic developments across its campuses, Denla continues to demonstrate its commitment to educational excellence and lifelong learning. (bangkokbiznews)

A Personal Reflection

Being part of the Denla community has allowed me to witness firsthand the dedication, professionalism, and genuine care shown by its educators each day. Celebrating both the opening of the Learning Commons and the organization’s 47th anniversary highlighted an important truth: education is ultimately about creating opportunities for young people to grow, explore, and discover their potential.

Congratulations to the entire Denla community on these remarkable milestones and the opening of Denla Learning Commons. May the years ahead continue to inspire innovation, curiosity, and excellence for generations of learners to come.

3. The Path of Achievement

Building a Culture of Recognition

One of the core principles of the ASCEND Framework is that professional growth should be visible, meaningful, and recognized. As ASCEND continues to develop alongside our partner schools, several new recognition systems are being introduced to celebrate the dedication, commitment, and achievements of educators throughout the year.

These initiatives are designed not only to acknowledge accomplishments but also to provide educators with a documented record of their professional development and contributions.

Professional Learning Certificates & Transcripts

A new Professional Learning Certificate system is being introduced to recognize educators who complete professional development sessions, workshops, and training programs throughout the academic year.

Complementing these certificates will be the ASCEND Professional Learning Transcript, a cumulative record that documents completed training hours, certifications earned, and professional development milestones. This transcript provides educators with a structured portfolio of their learning journey and can serve as valuable evidence of continuous professional growth.

Years of Service Recognition

Dedication deserves recognition. Educators reaching significant employment milestones will receive Years of Service Certificates, celebrating their commitment and contributions to their school communities.

These certificates acknowledge the impact educators make through their continued service while recognizing the relationships they build with students, colleagues, and families over time.

ASCEND Professional Rank

As educators continue to participate in professional development and demonstrate excellence in their daily practice, they will also progress through the ASCEND Professional Rank system.

Rather than reflecting seniority alone, ASCEND Rank recognizes ongoing professional engagement, leadership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Each new rank represents another milestone in an educator’s professional journey.

Monthly ASCEND Recognition

To encourage consistency and celebrate outstanding contributions, schools implementing the ASCEND Framework will also introduce several recurring recognition initiatives, including:

● Monthly Top 5 ASCEND Points Awards, recognizing educators who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism, collaboration, and commitment throughout the month.

● Teacher Recognition Certificates, presented monthly to acknowledge outstanding achievements, leadership, innovation, teamwork, and contributions that positively impact the school community.

● Special Recognition Awards, highlighting educators who go above and beyond in supporting students, colleagues, and school initiatives.

Looking Ahead

Recognition is more than receiving a certificate. It is about fostering a culture where effort, growth, and excellence are consistently valued. As these systems continue to expand across participating schools, ASCEND aims to provide educators with meaningful opportunities to celebrate their accomplishments while building a professional portfolio that reflects their ongoing journey.

The Path of Achievement is only just beginning, and we look forward to celebrating the many milestones, achievements, and success stories that future editions of The Chronicle will proudly share.

Building a New Home for the Bang Khae TCG Community

Editor's Introduction

Every great hobby has a place where people gather.

For trading card enthusiasts, a local game store is more than somewhere to buy booster packs. It's where new friendships begin, strategies are shared, tournaments are played, and communities are built one game at a time.

This month's Creator's Forge feature highlights one of Bang Khae's newest hobby destinations: Heavyweight TCG, located inside The Mall Lifestore Bangkae.

For foreign teachers, expatriates, students, and local players living on Bangkok's west side, stores like Heavyweight provide something often difficult to find. A welcoming place to meet others who share the same interests.

Official ASCEND Review

Quick Take

If you're a trading card game fan living on the west side of Bangkok, Heavyweight TCG is an exciting new addition to The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, conveniently located across from the movie theater. With a growing selection of popular TCGs, collectibles, and accessories, it's quickly becoming a great destination for both collectors and players. Whether you're hunting for your next booster pack or looking for a local community to enjoy the hobby with, Heavyweight TCG is well worth checking out.

Full Review

Trading Card Selection

One of Heavyweight TCG's biggest strengths is the variety of games it supports. Rather than focusing on a single franchise, the store welcomes multiple trading card communities, making it a convenient stop for players and collectors with a wide range of interests.

Current product lines include:

  • Pokémon Trading Card Game

  • Disney Lorcana

  • Magic: The Gathering

  • Marvel trading card products

  • Riftbound

Collectors will also appreciate the selection of graded cards, allowing visitors to browse premium collectibles alongside sealed products and singles.

Whether you're a competitive player preparing for your next event, a casual collector expanding your collection, or someone discovering the hobby for the first time, there's plenty to explore.

Accessories

Heavyweight TCG also carries many of the essentials needed to protect and personalize your collection, including premium card sleeves, deck boxes, play mats, and other gaming accessories. It's always convenient to find everything you need in one place instead of having to order from multiple online retailers.

Atmosphere & Community

Located inside The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, directly across from the cinema, the shop is easy to find and makes for a perfect stop before or after catching a movie. The store is clean, organized, and welcoming, creating an enjoyable browsing experience even if you're simply looking around.

What stands out most is the potential to become a true community hub. The Bang Khae area has long needed a dedicated space where trading card enthusiasts can meet, trade, discuss strategy, and enjoy games together. Heavyweight TCG has all the ingredients to become that local gathering place, and it's exciting to imagine the community growing through casual play, organized events, and future tournaments.

Service

The staff was friendly, approachable, and happy to answer questions about the different games they carry. As a newly opened store, they made an excellent first impression by creating a welcoming atmosphere for both experienced players and newcomers alike.

Overall Impression

Heavyweight TCG is a fantastic addition to The Mall Lifestore Bangkae and the growing Bang Khae hobby community. Supporting multiple trading card games, including Pokémon, Disney Lorcana, Magic: The Gathering, Marvel products, and Riftbound. While also offering graded collectibles and quality accessories, the shop provides something for nearly every type of collector and player.

More importantly, it has the potential to become more than just a retail store. It can serve as a local meeting place where friendships are built, games are played, collections are shared, and the trading card community continues to grow. If you're anywhere in the Bang Khae area and enjoy trading card games, Heavyweight TCG is absolutely worth a visit.

Forge Notes

Building a Community One Card at a Time

While online shopping has made it easier than ever to purchase trading cards, nothing replaces the experience of walking into a local game store, talking with fellow collectors, learning a new strategy, or sitting down for a casual game.

Heavyweight TCG arrives at an exciting time for the hobby in Thailand. Trading card games continue to grow in popularity across every age group, bringing together competitive players, collectors, families, and newcomers alike.

Rather than focusing on just one franchise, Heavyweight embraces today's diverse hobby landscape. Pokémon remains one of the world's most recognizable trading card games, Disney Lorcana continues to attract both Disney fans and strategy players, Magic: The Gathering remains the benchmark for competitive tabletop gaming, Marvel products appeal to comic enthusiasts, while Riftbound represents another exciting addition for players looking to experience something new.

More importantly, Heavyweight offers something that can't be purchased online.

Community.

Having a dedicated local game store means players no longer need to travel across Bangkok to find somewhere to play, trade, or simply spend an afternoon enjoying the hobby.

As Heavyweight grows, we hope to see community tournaments, prerelease events, league play, learn-to-play sessions, and trading nights that help strengthen the local TCG scene.

ASCEND Guild

Communities grow when people have somewhere to belong.

The ASCEND Guild exists to help connect educators, creators, gamers, collectors, and hobby enthusiasts beyond the classroom.

If you're a foreign teacher looking for a local group to play trading card games, board games, or simply meet people with similar interests, we'd love to welcome you into the Guild community.

Community Spotlight

Are you:

  • A local game store?

  • A board game café?

  • An independent tabletop publisher?

  • A trading card community?

  • An indie game developer?

  • A tournament organizer?

Creator's Forge is always looking for stories worth sharing.

Future Chronicle editions will continue highlighting local communities, upcoming events, new releases, promotions, and independent creators helping grow Thailand's tabletop gaming scene.

If you'd like your business, project, or event featured in Creator's Forge or The Chronicle, we'd love to hear from you.

Final Thoughts

Heavyweight TCG isn't simply another card shop. It's another place where communities can grow.

As Creator's Forge continues exploring hobby culture throughout Thailand, we look forward to highlighting more stores, creators, cafés, and community spaces that bring people together through shared passions.
